Kristiansund is a small city of 23 000 inhabitants situated on the western coastal line of Norway.
It's a small town, but with direct airport connection to Norway's capitol Oslo as well as other major Norwegian cities.
There is a coastal express boat line to Trondheim, making that a short and simple journey through exciting coastal nature.
Strangely, the small city boasts its own opera house; Norway's first built in 1928, and fully refurbished in 2010/2011. Each year in February an opera festival is arranged, a week in the dark season where inhabitants enjoy the opera performances.
We have a lot of weather her, and live close to nature. If you like clean air, great coastal nature and our occasional stormy weather this could be a great place for you. The gulf stream hits the Norwegian coastline in this area, ensuring constant circulation of tempered water, with orcas passing by occasionally. For divers the region is a paradise, especially in the crystal clear (although cold) winter water, and in the spring diving in the kelp forests is a unique experience – just get used to dry suit diving! In winter excellent skiing areas and mountain areas are available nearby. There are endless possibilities for good fishing year-round.
Life in Kristiansund is also described on this web site: www.runninggirl.no which also presents some of the local businesses. Enjoy!
Welcome to Kristiansund!
